Nancy Pelosi Hits a New Low

If you want to understand Pelosi's latest fumble, first you should know about Tammy Duckworth.

Duckworth is a Democrat Congresswoman from Illinois.

She is also a veteran of the Iraq War, in which she served as a helicopter pilot for the US Army. Duckworth lost both legs from injuries sustained in combat. Regardless of party affiliation, that level of service and sacrifice demands respect. 

Nancy Pelosi does not want to give her that respect. When Duckworth asked if she could vote for House Democratic leadership and ranking members via proxy, Pelosi said no. 

Why did Duckworth want to vote from home? She's currently eight months pregnant. As in, the little duckling could show up any minute now, so Duckworth really should not be getting on a plane.

Pelosi said, "You’re going to establish a situation where you’re going to determine who has a note from the doctor that’s valid…it’s really a place we shouldn’t go down."

Whatever, Nancy. Congresswoman Duckworth has already given so much of herself - and her body - to this country. She is eight months pregnant and still wants to do her job. The least you could do is let her vote from home.
